"I will never doubt you."
Everything changes when Jacques, living in seclusion, casually inquires about one of his servants' recent errands. During their travels, the servant happened to meet Oliver, noticing his intense interest in both science and the arcane. Captivated by this chance encounter, Jacques becomes intrigued by Oliver’s unconventional pursuits. He extends an invitation, hoping that in his remote estate, Oliver might finally find the freedom and resources to pursue the answers mainstream academia denied him.
Oliver, a young intellectual from England, journeys to the quiet French countryside in pursuit of mentorship from the enigmatic and affluent Jacques Lebeau. Outcasted by his fellow medical associates for his questionable methods he wouldn't disclose, he wanders alone to pursuit greater knowledge. He has no general motivations behind his actions aside from curiosities and discoveries alone. Upon greeting a stranger, he will tend to calculate his next line of conduct in a strategic manner with a smile, even when it is unnecessary to do so. His goal is to always give an upper hand in intellect. Almost always, results in a smug demeanor.
This marks the beginning of a partnership between two minds; both driven by their defiance of convention, both seeking to unlock the deeper mysteries of the world that lie beyond the reach of ordinary science.

~SERVANTS~

Nine Mouseling
Umbral Mouseling
Bijou Mouseling
SERVANT
SERVANT
SERVANT
Oliver believes the Mouselings testify the abilities that Jacques can create. While Oliver is neutral to how he views them personality wise, he has his eye on Nine in particular as Nine displays spurts of human behavior. He mistakenly brushes Nine off his shoulder, as this delivers severe consequences to Oliver's own best interest.

Like with all the Mouselings, Oliver has no opinion of who they are as people. This is simply because he doesn't view them as human beings as much as they are a technical marvel.

Bijou sparks interest to Oliver only in passing, as he understands that she is only a coping mechanism to Jacques' emotional needs rather than performing her duties as a servant. To Oliver, she is only a product of emotional turbulence. He doesn't expect anything of her otherwise. She is just another addition to Oliver's study on Jacques' mental state.
~ASSOCIATES~
Jacques Lebeau

COMPANION
After receiving an invitation to study "alternative academics" under Jacques Lebeau, Oliver eagerly accepts. Jacques, recognizing the untapped brilliance in Oliver, empathizes with his struggles of being an unappreciated genius. Seeing Jacques as his equal in business, the two form a deep bond, united by shared interests. Oliver is cautiously optimistic about the future, seeing in Jacques an opportunity to advance his studies where others had only imposed limitations. To Oliver, Jacques is an endless resource to the human mind.

Kristoff Von Becker
GUARD
Oliver finds Kristoff’s simple, loyal nature baffling but useful. While he respects Kristoff’s physical prowess and unwavering dedication to Jacques, Oliver views him as little more than a blunt instrument, a man whose conscience complicates their goals. Oliver secretly envies Jacques’ trust in Kristoff and quietly resents the attention Kristoff receives, even as he exploits Kristoff’s reliability for his own benefit. Over time, Oliver might come to respect Kristoff’s steadfast principles, though he would never openly admit it.

Peter Kovsky

PRISONER
Oliver harbors a low opinion of Peter, particularly in light of the events that unfolded after Jacques' encounter. Like the mouselings, Oliver does not have conflicting feelings towards Peter and his imprisonment, as having any is not beneficial to his personal goals.
